Kissimmee Featured in Where to Retire Magazine

Houston, TX (Feb. 6, 2018) – Kissimmee, FL, has been selected a top retirement destination by Where to Retire, the only magazine in America geared toward helping people with retirement relocation decisions. Kissimmee is profiled in a feature titled “8 Lovely Lake Cities” in the March/April 2018 issue, available nationwide on Feb. 13.

Where to Retire Editor Annette Fuller said many relocating retirees seek the benefit of being near water, but without the coastal weather flare-ups. “Many retirees are drawn to life on or near a lake. Kissimmee, 20 miles south of Orlando, has much more going for it than the nearby theme parks – it borders Lake Tohopekaliga, one of the largest lakes in the state. A recent $34 million renovation to the lakefront includes scenic walkways, shaded viewing areas and an expanded marina. The calm waters create lovely landscapes and support a diversity of wildlife, and then, there’s the pure solace of it all,” Fuller said.

Each year, 700,000 Americans relocate to new towns to retire. Generally, relocating retirees are healthier, better educated and more affluent than those who choose to not relocate. They bring significant economic benefits to their new states and hometowns. Nationally, two dozen states and hundreds of towns seek to attract retirees as a source of economic development.

8 Lovely Lake Cities: Branson, MO; Gainesville, GA; Georgetown, TX; Kalispell, MT; Kissimmee, FL; Lakewood/Puyallup, WA; St. Tammany Parish, LA; and Sevierville, TN.
