Member Spotlight: Mosquito Joe of Kissimmee keeps your outdoor spaces Mosquito free & enjoyable.

Welcome to Mosquito Joe Kissimmee!  If you live in Kissimmee, Florida then you know that mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas in FL are no joke! These outdoor pests have a tendency of ruining our fun outside and they also expose us to insect-borne illnesses like Eastern Equine Encephalitis Virus or EEEV, West Nile Virus, Zika, and Lyme disease.

Lucky for you, Mosquito Joe of Kissimmee has you covered from Davenport and Haines City to Saint Cloud or Polk City, and many locations in between, with a variety of residential and commercial services so you and your family can enjoy the outdoors once again. Their technicians are trained mosquito control experts dedicated to one thing: getting rid of mosquitoes.  If you’re looking to keep your outdoor spaces swat-free all season long, check out one of Mosquito Joe’s outdoor pest repelling services such as mosquito, tick, and flea barrier treatments; special event sprays; or their natural solution that uses essential oils like lemongrass and peppermint. They’ve dealt with a wide array of outdoor spaces and know exactly what to look for, making sure to not only eliminate any mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas already present, but to also identify and remove any places that they could breed or live.

When you call Mosquito Joe, their friendly office staff will help you determine the best mosquito control solution for you and your home or business, and their team of experienced technicians are all licensed and trained in mosquito control treatment applications.  They not only enjoy making outside fun again, they are dedicated to making our community a better place.

Member Spotlight: Island Wing Company Rolling Oaks serves up baked wings, cold drinks & good vibes.

Meet John Weissfisch, the owner of the new Island Wing Company located on Rolling Oaks Blvd. just off West 192 near Sunset Walk.  His franchise is the largest Island Wing Company restaurant in the nation. Hear more about Central Florida’s latest Island Wing Company in John’s own words:

We are a local family owned and operated restaurant. Island Wing Company is a franchise so each unit is owned by someone different. We pride our store on the ‘experience.’ This encompasses not only great food and drinks but a culture that attracts customers based on the atmosphere/energy of the store. Our goal is to get involved in every aspect of the local community because we specifically want to cater to the locals, which is not common in a touristy area. We have many exciting things brewing including themed nights –  so stay tuned!  We recommend liking us on Facebook for the latest updates or joining our text club.  Our website is www.islandwing.com.

Member Spotlight: A Helping Hand offers affordable mental health counseling for Osceola families.

Helping Hand Community Counseling (HHCC) is dedicated to providing free and low-cost counseling services to individuals, families, and couples who are not able to otherwise afford them. Driven by the commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, their services include psychotherapy, counseling, support groups, case management, workshops, and classes.

  • HHCC provides free & affordable sliding scale ($10- $25 per session) crisis counseling for children, adults, families, and couples as well as support groups, case management, workshops and classes.
  • May 2018 – December 2021: 14,000 hours of counseling = $1.2 MILLION dollars’ worth of FREE services!
  • HHCC is 100% volunteer based, making the internal expense for a 1-hour session only $25.
  • Typical clients receive 6-8 FREE counseling sessions; establishing 3 treatment plan goals, attend weekly sessions to address goals and design an independent continuation plan prior to completion. Services may continue a scholarship basis of ten to twenty-five dollars per session, based on financial ability.
  • Completion rate of 82%, meaning the client attended 6 sessions, met at least one of their treatment goals and either transitioned to the scholarship program or felt confident that their independent continuation plan allowed for continued progress towards the remaining goals.
  • HHCC partners with A Helping Hand Counseling Center clients (typically families with children on Medicaid) to provide services for uninsured household members. Through this collaboration, staff has increased outcomes of nearly all clients’ treatment plan goals & improved parents’ ability to resolve personal/ family issues & design strategies for success as well as how to better meet the child’s emotional needs.

HHCC believes that to create lasting community change, building and maintaining strong community partnerships is essential. They have been blessed to partner with other local organizations to help further awareness, goals, and missions that are mutually beneficial to our community, our partners, and to us. Projects like Project Pinwheel for Child Abuse Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness Projects with The Nicole Montalvo Foundation & Help Now of Osceola County, Holiday Food Drives, and Christmas initiatives with the local Business Connections group are but a few.
